Marriage Monday take 6!

Tonight my mom and I put 2 coats of primer on my bedroom walls!
It's really getting exciting on how much progress we've made.
Now we're going to eat ice cream and watch Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

I think Autumn weddings are gorgeous.  My cousin got married 2 years ago and had the ceremony and reception all in one venue and the whole thing was perfect.

There were pumpkins carved with their initials and other weddingy stuff and those florist fall leaves and twinkle lights everywhere.  The venue had columns lining the dance floor/aisle and they wrapped them in wheat stalks.  There was even a kid area with hay bales. My favorite part was a self serve bar for before the ceremony.  They had warm mulled apple cider, candy and caramel apples, and candy corn.

It was a perfect wedding and now that my wedding can't have this theme I thought I'd share some of the perfect things to pull one off like theirs!

cake bunting that would look cute with this other topper under it!

On to Bridal Style!

This gorgeous vintage dress would be great for the rehearsal dinner!

I liked this ring as the groom's gift to the bride

I know the bridal gown is a personal thing but,
I love a dress similar to this for a more casual feel

I love this one for a dressier feel
I also like that this designer sells the tops separate from the bottoms so you can customize the silhouette of your dress!  If you don't like the organza shell then you don't have to get that!

That dress rounds out my list, but I'm going to add this item for no reason other than I love it!
Obviously Brian and I look nothing like this, but the customization is the best part!

Homebody

So, I decided to take the night as a stay in night.  I blew bubbles, played cars, played Little People (the old school small ones), built and knocked over block towers, and rode bikes with Dash.

It's been a pretty good night.  We just had ice cream and he's about to go to bed, so I'm going to sew!
Having a nephew is the greatest.

Having pop rocks with him is even better :)

Off to sew.  I've almost finished the baby bedding!  Nighty night all!

Cleaning part II

I just posted that about cleaning to old music, then started cleaning.  when I went downstairs my dad had just turned up the music.

Under Pressure, Queen and David Bowie.
haha my parents are so predictable.

Cleaning

When I was younger I loved that my dad would crank up music to clean to.

I will forever love:
John (Cougar) Mellencamp
Paul Simon- as well as Simon and Garfunkel
Steely Dan
Allman Brothers
The Beatles
Eric Clapton- including Cream
Santana
Dire Straits (WALK OF LIFE!)
Traveling Wilburys
Bonnie Raitt (Papa Come Quick was my favorite song for the longest time)

I made a playlist, but it won't post.  Something about format problems when it tries to "save now."
BOOO!

Off to clean.
"Seeing me and Julio down by the schoolyard..."

OH! By the way Pumpkin Spice Lattes next week!!
Get pumped!

Style Icon Thursdays!

So, here is my new feature!
Every Thursday I'm going to share one of my favorite style/fashion icons.
Brian even volunteered to do a few male posts for me!

We're going to start out with my favorite Audrey Hepburn.
We all know her best from
Breakfast at Tiffany's, My Fair Lady, & Roman Holiday, but whether she was in a movie or day to day life she looked amazing.
Here are some of my favorite looks and photos:

Other than the My Fair Lady dress her look is so simple and not fussy.
Simple clean lines and body flattering shapes.
I also love that she wears a lot of stripes.  I've always loved stripes and polka dots.

I always explain my design aesthetic at school as clean lined, romantic, and nostalgic, and I think her look hits all of those points!

Here are a few quotes I found:

"If I’m honest I have to tell you I still read fairy-tales and I like them best of all."
"Let's face it, a nice creamy chocolate cake does a lot for a lot of people; it does for me."
"I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day, and I believe in miracles"

"I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles"

"For Attractive lips, speak words of kindness, For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people, For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry, For Beautiful hair, let a child run their fingers through it once a day, For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone. People, more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed. Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of each of your arms. As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands, one for helping yourself and the other for helping others."

Randomness and a giveaway!

I have the day off work.  My boss is judging the critique at UC of the girls not on co-op now.
So, I made myself breakfast!  I have a million things to sew today including finishing Denise's baby quilt.

Don't forget to check out the big sponsor giveaway at Freckled Nest!  I have a custom vintage fabric backpack in it, but you'll also win 10 other things!
example:
I also have BIG NEWS!
Brian and I are starting an Etsy together!
Life in a Suitcase
Not sure of the launch date yet, but it's going to be all handpainted vintage luggage and a few other vintage and travel things!  YAY YAY YAY!  I'll get you more info as soon as I can.  We're painting and making a banner Friday.

My friend Michael is in a band with Tj and Joe and he writes a lot of Christian and religion based poems (think along the lines of As Cities Burn and mewithoutYou) and such, so if you're into that sort of thing check out his blog: The Miracles in Between.

These are him.  The last was from a video project Lauren did.  He may kill me if he sees this.
Sorry for my super randomness!

NEW FEATURE LATER TODAY!

Babysitters club

I watch Dash almost every Wednesday in the summer.
This week Brian is watching Madison so we decided to join forces and have a playdate.
They're funny.  He calls her buddy and she calls him honey!

We're having fun with photobooth.

Here are some photobooth pics from last week!

Preview: fall fashion wishlist

Although I hate the idea that the weather will get cold,
I keep meaning to post a fall fashion wishlist, but I keep adding more to the list...
The only thing I'm excited about getting back into my daily wardrobe are my jeans and boots.
No sweaters or long sleeves yet, PLEASE!

There's just a taste.  bed now. sleepy. must not be late again.

Joe.

This is Joseph Dunlap.  Brian and he used to be in a band together and now he plays with Standing Small sometimes.  He plays a bajillion instruments, it's ridiculous (although I must say I think his voice sounds better in person).

He covers Sleeping at Last Umbrellas and it made my eyes water when we saw him at the Underground recently.

This is my nephew Dash.  He is awesome, and I get to babysit him tomorrow :)
Dinner then off to trivia soon
toodles, Mallory
